Using The Finder - You'll learn how to use the Finder to manage & organize all of your files, how to use Expose to quickly find what you're looking for, how to customize the Finder sidebar & toolbar for easy access to your favorite items, the intricacies of the Action menu, how to comprehend the "Get Info" panel, how to use aliases, how to use the trash, how to use basic commands like sleep & shut down & log out, and how to use contextual menus.

The Dock - You'll understand how to use the dock effectively, plus learn great tips & tricks on how to get the most out of your dock.

Printing & Faxing - Printing & faxing has been revamped & simplified in Tiger. You'll not only learn how to send & receive faxes, but you'll also learn how to set up & use printers effectively. You'll also learn secret tips & tricks about the print dialog box that you haven't seen before.

.Mac - We'll train you on the features of Apple's .Mac membership: .Mac Sync, iDisk integration, HomePage creation and Apple Backup.

Burning CD's - Learn how easy it is to burn data CD's, audio CD's, and photo CD's on your Mac.

Fast User Switching - Learn how to easily share your computer with multiple people.

System Preferences - Ever feel daunted by Mac OS X's system preferences? We'll walk you through every one of them, step-by-step.

Internet Setup - How to get yourself on the Internet quickly & easily with Mac OS X, including wireless Internet connectivity.

Safari - Learn why Safari is is the best web browser available for the Macintosh, and learn all about the secrets of using Safari like a professional.

iTunes - Learn all about managing your music collection on the Macintosh, including burning audio CD's, using the iPod, and buying songs from the iTunes Music Store.

iPhoto - Learn how to gracefully manage your digital photos with iPhoto.

iChat AV - How to use iChat AV to chat with your buddies near & far.

Opening & Saving Documents - How to navigate the open/save dialog boxes in Tiger.

Mail & Address Book - Learn how to navigate Mail & Address Book, Apple's built-in integrated programs for managing your email & contacts.

iWork - Although this is not an iWork class, if time permits, we will give a brief 10-minute overview of Keynote & Pages, Apple's incredible programs for creating stunning presentations & documents.

iMovie - This is not an iMovie class, but if time permis, we will do a brief 10-minute introduction to iMovie, Apple's program that makes it easy to make your own home movies.
Other Mac OS X Resources - We'll cover many of the resources that you'll want to have at your fingertips, once the class is over: Mac OS X books & magazines that are indispensable, Mac OS X software programs you won't want to live without, Mac OS X websites that you'll want to visit on a regular basis. These resources will enable you to become more proficient over time on your own.

Troubleshooting Mac OS X - Although this is not a troubleshooting class, if time permits, we will cover a brief overview of the basics of troubleshooting: force-quitting applications, how to handle startup problems, how to deal with a lost Mac OS X password, how to handle the wrong program opening a document, and how to find answers online quickly.

Teacher:
The class will be led by local Macintosh expert & Macintosh consultant Scott Rose. Scott Rose is also a top FileMaker programmer, and one of Apple Computer's professional speakers for their MacWorld Expo convention in San Francisco. Scott Rose regularly speaks at the Apple Stores in Los Angeles.

Computer Info:
You may bring your own laptop to the class if you'd like, but it is certainly not a requirement or even necessary. You will be watching Scott teach Mac OS X 10.4 on a projected screen in a conference room.
